Yes, you can use Magoosh prep to study for the new GRE coming September 2023!
The test content and topics have stayed the same. The only difference is that on test day you won't have to do the “Analyze an Argument” task in the Analytical Writing section and there will be fewer questions.
We've recently updated our GRE prep!
- Our practice tests are now shorter to replicate the new GRE.
- Our lesson videos and dashboard study schedules have been edited to reflect any necessary changes.
If you would like to take an official ETS practice test, you can take one for free here. I've also included some additional information about the new GRE changes below.
New GRE Changes:
First, I recommend checking out this article we wrote Get Ready for the New, Shorter GRE: Here’s What You Need to Know.
Next, here are two main changes:
- The test will be shortened by almost half the time, so each section will have fewer questions
- The "Analyze an Argument" Writing task will be removed, so there will only be 1 Writing task to complete
Check out this helpful chart to review the specifics:
In sum, the changes are about cutting questions, not about adding new types of content. So, when you do take the new test format, most of what you're studying now will still be relevant, as I've mentioned. You can read more details here on the Official Faq page.
I hope this helps! Just let me know if I can clarify anything here further and I'll be glad to. :-)
